Taxes and Regulatory Fees

In order to be in regulatory compliance we are required by law to collect applicable sales, excise, and other taxes, as well as governmental regulatory surcharges and fees, at the federal, state, county, and city levels. These taxes and regulatory fees are invoiced as "Taxes, Surcharges, & Regulatory Fees" as a line item on your monthly invoice.

Taxes & regulatory fees are estimated at less than 10% of your monthly bill. However, tax amounts collected and regulatory fees assessed are outside our control and are subject to change without notice. If you have any questions and/or concerns regarding these fees, please contact us.

Federal USF Cost Recovery

Most notable among the regulatory fees is the FCC-mandated Universal Service Fund. All telecommunications providers are required to pay into the Federal USF. Learn more about the Universal Service Fund.

Pay Phone Surcharge

Calls made from pay phones to a toll-free number incur a 54¢ surcharge. This surcharge is determined and mandated by the FCC. We've made it easy for you to choose to block all pay phone calls so these surcharges won't exist.
