Getting started with Freedom800®


Does Freedom800® replace my phone system? No. Our service is designed to work in conjunction with your current phone service. We don't provide dial tone. We only service the incoming calls from your Freedom800® number. Your everyday outgoing calls will remain with your current local, long distance and/or cell provider.
Do I have to record the greetings on my system? Yes. You'll want to customize your main greeting and individual mailbox recordings, which are specific to your business. You can record greetings over the phone or upload them from your computer. We also offer professional voice talent services if you want a more polished sound.
Do I need any special equipment? No. Freedom800® is virtual so no special equipment is needed. It simply works with your existing phone service, regardless of what that is.
Can Freedom800® be used for voicemail only? Yes. If you choose not to use call forwarding, all incoming calls will go directly to voicemail. If you'd like to use Freedom800® as voicemail for your existing service, have your local phone company forward to your Freedom800® number after a certain number of rings or when busy.
How quickly can I get started? Your account and phone number are activated immediately upon sign up. Sign up only takes about 5 minutes.
Are there any contracts? No. You subscribe to our service month to month and can cancel any time, without penalties or cancellation fees.
Is there a setup fee to open an account? No.

Are there any limits during the trial? No, your system will be fully functional.
How long is the free trial? 15 days.
What's included with the free trial? The free trial includes monthly system rental with all included features and minutes. On the 16th day, the free trial will end and you'll be billed for the monthly system rental, per minute overage costs (if any) as well as any other options added at signup or during your trial period.

Toll-Free Numbers

Questions about toll free numbers.


Can I choose my toll free number? Yes. The first part of the sign up process allows you to choose your own number.
Can I use my existing toll free number? Yes, you can transfer your existing toll-free number to us. The process is simple. First fill out a number transfer form, sign it and fax back to us. We'll then act on your behalf and contact your current service provider to get the number transfered to us.
Can I keep my toll free number if I choose to cancel? Yes, as long as your account is in good standing (i.e., there are no unpaid balances or issues with violating the terms and conditions of service). Your new provider will supply you with the necessary forms to have your number transferred from us.
How many calls can my toll free number handle? We do not cap the number of simultaneous calls your toll free number can take at any one time. We have customers who receive thousands of calls simultaneously without any impact on their service or that of other customers.
I dialed a toll-free number I was looking for to see if it's available and I get a busy signal. Doesn't that mean it's available? Not necessarily. Companies can own several toll free numbers but just not have them all in service. The best way to see if a number is available is to use our vanity search tool.
Do toll-free numbers work in Canada? Yes. Freedom800® toll free numbers also work in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Can I request a specific toll-free number? Yes. Use our free vanity search tool to locate and reserve a vanity toll-free number. This search tool allows you to query the national database of available toll-free numbers as often as you'd like at no charge. Vanity numbers take 1-3 days to activate so you'll be issued a temporary toll free number while we secure your vanity request.
Do you offer toll-free service for International callers? No, we only provide U.S.-based toll free numbers. If you're interested in International toll-free numbers, check out this resource.
Can I have multiple toll free numbers? Yes, you can add additional toll free numbers any time by contacting client support after you've established an account. Each additional toll-free number is $5 per month.
Are 866, 877, and 888 toll free numbers? Yes. 800, 888, 877, and 866 are all toll free prefixes and work identically within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The 800 prefix was the first available, so you will often hear toll free numbers interchangeably referred to as "800 numbers". The prefixes 888, 877, and 866 were later released to meet an increasing demand from small businesses.

Local Numbers

Common questions about local numbers.


Will a local number capture Caller ID? Yes, unless the caller has their number blocked. Local numbers do not have the same capability of defeating caller ID blocking as do toll-free numbers. If the caller blocks their number, our system will not be able to capture the caller's telephone number.
Can I transfer my existing local number? Yes. We ask that you first create a free trial account selecting a local number, then contact our client support for instructions on how to get started transferring your local number to us.
Can I get multiple local numbers? Yes, you can add additional local numbers from any available city in just minutes. Simply contact client support and they'll assist you in the process. Each additional local number is $10 per month.
Are there usage rates for local numbers? Yes, but only when calls are forwarded. Incoming calls do not incur any per minute usage fees. Forwarded calls do and are deducted from your plan's included minutes. If you go over your plan's allotted minutes, each minute is billed at the pre-determined overage rate for that particular plan.
How many calls can my local number take at a time? Your Freedom800® local number can receive two (2) simultaneous inbound voice or fax telephone calls at any one time. This means if two callers are connected to the system through your local number, the third caller will receive a busy signal. You can increase this capacity by ordering additional lines in sets of 2 for $10 per month.
Will you list my number with 411? No, we do not publisize the numbers of our customers. However if you would like your number added to the 411 list, you can easily use services such as listyourself.net.

Features

Common questions about specific features.


Can I upload my recordings? Yes. If you have already had a recording you would like to use for your auto attendant, hold music or mailbox greeting, you may upload the audio file through your online control panel. You can also make a new recording over the phone at any time, or choose from one of our professional voice talents to record your script for a small fee.
Can I upload a promotional recording for hold music? Yes. You may upload new custom hold music anytime through your online control panel. Changes are available instantly to callers.
Can I send and receive faxes? Yes. Every Freedom800® plan is equipped to be used as a virtual fax service. Use your same Freedom800® number to receive faxes and send faxes easily through your online control panel.
How do I distinguish between calls from Freedom800® and personal calls? Our call announce feature announces that you have a call from your Freedom800® number before you're connected with the caller. At this point you can choose to accept the call or deny the call to send the caller to the next number on the call forwarding list or voicemail.
How can I check my voicemail messages? To check voicemail online, log in to your online control panel. To check your voicemail over the phone, dial your Freedom800® number and press * followed by the voicemail box you wish to check. To check voicemail sent to email, you simply use your email client to receive the message and open the audio attachment.
Can I add more extensions? Yes, there is practically no limit to the number of extensions you can add. To add new extensions, contact client support and they'll be happy to assist you.
Can I change settings and see call reports online? Yes. Through your online control panel you can generate detailed call reports and configure tons of settings allowing you to fully customize the functionality of your Freedom800® system.
Can I forward calls to multiple numbers? Yes. Each extension can be forwarded to as many numbers as you'd like. Numbers are dialed in the order you list them, or can even be set up with an advanced call distribution (ACD) such as a round-robin rotation, least call time weighting, or simultaneous ringing.

Billing

Common questions about billing.


How much is it to get started? Nothing. Use your 15 day free trial to setup and configure your service. After your trial ends, you'll be billed the monthly fee of the plan you chose at sign up.
How do I cancel my subscription? Simply call (800) 931-9795 and speak with one of our friendly client service representatives during support hours. We'll ask you to verify your account number and billing information to process your request.
How will I receive my monthly billing statement? Monthly statements are sent to the email address on record and include details of your service rental and any call usage activity.
Will my credit card be charged during the free trial? No. You will not be charged during the 15-day free trial unless you order specific customizations or professional voice talent.
What kind of additional charges will appear on my billing statement? We're in regulatory compliance with the FCC and other government agencies to collect applicable fees and taxes. For more on these fees, click here.
Can I upgrade service plans at any time? Yes. You can switch service levels at any time by contacting client support. Any existing payments will be prorated.
